Fire Safety on Trips
When traveling, it is important that you be prepared when it comes to fire safety. If that very loud alarm goes off in the middle of the night, you need to act quickly, not try to figure out what to do next.
- Watch or read the hotel's fire safety guide as one of the first things you do. Locate and read as a group.
- Locate the emergency exits. Count the number of steps to the exit.
- In a plastic bag, keep a small flashlight, along with your room key, wallet, and any important documents (health forms, etc.) by your night table so you could grab them quickly in the case of an emergency. Also, leave a pair of shoes by your bed.
- Plan and discuss a meeting place in the case of an emergency.
