Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

New Jersey is home to many different species of wildlife that you may see while in the outdoors. It can be wonderful and exciting, but it can also be dangerous. Here are some things you need to know.

FOOD & GARBAGE: If you leave food sitting out in the open or do not dispose of your garbage properly, it is likely to attract all sorts of animals. They will eat your food, make a mess, and can be a very real threat to your safety. This problem can be greatly reduced if you keep your food and garbage in the proper place.

NEVER ALLOW FOOD TO BE KEPT IN TENTS

Insects, mice, raccoons, and even bears may enter tents and can easily get into sealed bags of candy or chips.
